MICHAEL H. CHANG

Michael Chang is a compassionate advocate for workers and a labor and employment litigator. He specializes in employment and labor disputes, including sexual harassment, discrimination based on race, disability, medical condition, sex, gender, age, pregnancy and other protected characteristics, retaliation, constructive and wrongful termination, employee misclassification, and wage and hour claims. 


Highly experienced in workplace matters, Michael is an advocate that speaks from the heart for the rights of employees of all backgrounds in all areas of employment disputes and Fair Employment and Housing based cases from pre-litigation negotiations to alternative dispute resolution and trials. Michael has extensive experience litigating harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, employment misclassification and wage and hour matters in both state and federal courts.

Prior to founding SoCo Law Firm, Michael litigated for prolific plaintiff-side law firms in both Los Angeles and Orange counties. Michael also previously served as staff counsel for a Fortune 500 company. As a result, Michael has special insight into big company policies and practices, and wage and hour law compliance. Since transitioning to plaintiff-side employment litigation, he has represented hundreds of clients from pre-litigation negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, to trial against Fortune 500 companies. Over the course of his employment law practice, Michael has secured millions of dollars in settlements.


Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California Riverside in 1993. He received his Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law in 1997. During law school, Michael completed externships with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office and United States Bankruptcy Court. 


Michael is active in the legal community and is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association and California Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts and the United States District Courts in the Northern, Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts.
